What a great place to eat. Sat at the sushi bar and was treated like top notch guests. Then we got served and it was just as good. Awesome food and great service. Justin at the sushi bar is great. Knowledgable about what he does and passionate about what he does. Just tell him to fix you something special. Don't drive off the island for sushi.

Bushido is definitely a hidden gem on Isle of Palms. Tucked into the corner of a shopping center, it could be easily missed by passersby, but definitely shouldn't be! Walking in on a Friday night at 7:45pm, the bar area was lively but the restaurant wasn't overly packed since it is off-season. My husband and I sat at the sushi bar and ordered water and a beer each. Everything on the menu looked so great, it was a bit of a tough decision. We decided on a couple of Miso Soups, followed by two signature rolls to share. We went with the Out of Control Roll and the Lobster Tango Roll. It didn't seem to us that it took that long, but the man making the sushi apologized for the wait time (apparently a lot of people were getting sushi at the same time) and gave us a Squid Salad on the house. It is not something I would have ordered normally, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed. The flavor combinations of the Marinated Squid, tossed with Cucumbers, Seaweed & Sesame Seeds was amazing. Our specialty rolls arrived shortly thereafter and I must say, it was worth the wait! Both the Out of Control and Lobster Tango rolls were beyond delicious! The Out of Control consisted of Tuna, Salmon, Asparagus, and Avocado inside, and was topped with seared Tuna, Salmon and yellowtail with Eel & Sweet Chili Mango Sauce, Sprinkled with Crispy Rice Balls. The name fits it perfectly! The Lobster Tango roll was Lobster Tail Tempura, Spicy Salmon, Avocado, Seaweed, Lettuce, and Caviar, wrapped in Soy Paper in Chef's Special Sauce. It was incredible. Despite only ordering soups and two rolls to share, we were both full with the inclusion of the Squid salad. The service provided was excellent throughout our dinner. There was a live acoustic singer in the bar area and she was really talented and a fantastic addition to the evening atmosphere.

The fish is so sweet and fresh I will miss this place when I go back to Cali! The people are so nice and make you feel at home and not rushed. Excellent sushi bar! Will be dinning here for the next couple days, this has become our favorite place.

We are new to the area and were looking for a good sushi place to take our son when he was home for Thanksgiving (he is sushi-deprived in Western Indiana where he goes to school and always wants sushi when he comes home). After reading a lot of negative reviews, I finally came across Bushido and decided to give them a try and I'm really glad. As others have mentioned, it is not what you'd expect to find in a strip mall next to a laundromat and a Pizza Hut but it is worth seeking out. As a vegetarian, I wish they offered more creative vegetable rolls--what they do offer is pretty basic, but everything I ordered was delicious. I look forward to going back.

This place was a great surprise! We hadn't planned on eating here during our stay on IOP, but we found ourselves in that little strip mall, and hungry. We had the octopus and tuna sashimi appetizers and there's nothing like either of them anywhere else. They were served in dark sauces, five perfect slices of each. Our entrees were the Udon noodles with chicken and the Singapore noodles with vegetables. Both were generously sized, flavorful and fresh. Our waitress was endearing and over all the experience was good. We still can't stop talking about that Tako Su octopus appetizer!

This new restaurant on IOP is a second location to the Bushido in West Ashley. We have visited the Bushido in West Ashley to do their sushi food challenge with family. It was not a great experience but we were in the mood for sushi/hibachi and found a great online deal ($12 for $30, with a min $45 bill). Great-let's have a mid week date night! They have live music playing (LOUDLY) and happy hour from 4-7pm. We missed the HH by minutes. Darn. We planned to come back again to check that out. Ordered two of their special rolls. Volcano and Amazing Tuna Roll. Both were delicious and beautiful. We decided to share the classic Hibachi with Shrimp/Chicken/NYStrip. Weird- we weren't able to order the steak by temperature. Unfortunately, we never received our soup or salad. The steak was seriously well done. (we normally choose med-rare). The chicken was under seasoned and over done. The rice was ok but nothing too tasty. Our veg was under cooked. And my husband, who normally loves Shrimp sauce, agreed that this tasted like nothing more than slightly sweetened mayo...no heat, no punch. Overall, this was mostly underwhelming evening. We will maybe come back to try the sushi again but we will have to find our hibachi elsewhere. Darn!

We enjoyed our dinner here and we found the restaurant very tastefully done. It was our first time here,(we came to hear Haley sing, awesome BTW) so we tried a bit of everything, starting with the gyoza. After living in Japan for many years, we can say these were spot on. I tried the Thai salad with grilled chicken. The salad was excellent, with a varied amount of different greens, but the chicken was a tad anemic looking. Give the customer a nice looking piece of protein on your selection of greens and we that try to eat healthy at a restaurant will be all over it! I am not a miso fan, theirs was the best ever.My husband had the some curry dish, but we are huge curry lovers and this was not to his taste. We also had the hot banana roll - only because it was such and unusual item, but too much going on and I have to say that the soy wrap is not for me.We will come back again because we think the basics are there and look forward to trying many more items on their menu.

We just had lunch at Bushido, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a difficult time making our choice from the menu because so many items sounded so good. We finally decided on the Bushido Sashimi Roll from their Signature Rolls section, and enjoyed a California Sauvignon Blanc with it. Absolutely delicious! We live here, and will definitely come back.

Great food. Excellent addition to the island. My husband and I have visited twice now. Last time we ordered sushi, this time--hibachi. We were pleased with it all. The food is priced great as well. We will certainly be back!

We had a great sushi dinner, fresh fish. Child friendly. Bar with TV. Tables and sushi bar. Casual. Next to supermarket. Our sever was very pleasant and quick. They deliver within 5 miles. No place for pets, indoor only.

The food was as amazing as the presentation. I had a Mai Tai which was perfect. They amount of food served was way more then I expected for the price. I was also impressed with the top notch service we received. I will be back again this week.

Well please don't confuse this place with Bushido Japanese Restaurant, evidently located in W. Ashley, bc they will not honor the groupon. Our service was great, and thank you Yelp for the coupon for 50% off a specialty roll with a check-in! I had the Philadelphia roll and shared the Sex on the Beach specialty roll...both fine. The specialty roll had a lot going on and each piece was a big bite. The Philly roll was pretty standard. My friend friend's tuna tatake appetizer was the best thing we tried. My other friend's chicken curry dish was mediocre--it lacked enough sauce and she said she wouldn't order it again. Presentations were impressive but the dishes left us wanting. The ambiance is pretty generic. Not a great romantic date spot but too quiet to get lost in conversation with friends. Nothing special and I still have a Bushido groupon unused.

We had the yellowfin jalapeño app & squid salad for starters which were both delicious. The avocado salad had very fresh ingredients and was plentiful. Cute touch with the Valentine roll that had two rolls shaped into a heart. Kat was super nice and we will definitely be back next time we are in IOP!

I've had a lot of sushi in my day. This was the best I've ever had! Particularly the tuna, salmon and yellowfin nigiri. Simply outstanding. The chef achieved these perfectly. The service was also outstanding. I just can't get over that nigiri. I'll be there again as soon as I get to Isle of Palms again. Can't recommend highly enough!

It is really the best restaurant on IOP. My husband and I love this place! We have eaten at all of the restaurants on the island, and Bushidos constantly delivers! Never had a bad meal. The hibachi is delicious, never over cooked and the veggies are always crisp tender. The portions are great, and it comes with soup and salad. The soup is SO good!! The sushi is always fresh and so yummy. You cannot go wrong here. They have something for everyone!!

Bushjdo was our first restaurant stop in Isle of Palms. I wouldn't have expected such good Asian food in a beach town. We had Philly rolls, Hibachi chicken and pineapple fried rice with chicken. I tried all, expertly prepared and flavorful food. Would be happy to try other options later.

If I lived in Charleston I would go here everyday to eat uni! It was the freshest uni I had. After ordering the first one I ordered a second. I hope when I come back to visit it'll be as good as the first time. I can't remember the name of the sushi rolls, but we definitely killed it all. Also got a couple appetizers that was good. The waiter didn't think we could eat that much, but that was proven wrong.

I was surprised Bushido was able to accommodate a last-minute reservation for 11 people, but when we arrived, I found out why. There was no one there! I think we were the only table in that portion of the restaurant. No matter. Food and service was great. Everything served was delicious, from the sushi to the hot items. The red bean ice cream was a treat for those at our table who had never tried it. If in that area of IoP again, we'll come back.

The place is very nice and staff is very friendly and courteous - 5-stars. Was not impressed about the food as anticipated based on previous reviews - so-so, just about the average. This is the only sushi place we tried locally and just comparing it to sushi places around Chicago.

Been wanting to try this place for a while, so glad we did! Best sushi I've had in the area! The tuna tataki was insane!!! Had 2 signature rolls, both were amazing. The pomegranate sake was delicious. The live music was wonderful! Can't wait to go back!!!

The seared tuna appetizer was amazing, along with everything else, and our server (I believe his name was Chris) couldn't have been nicer. Definitely recommend!

You don't have the island to get some good sushi! Fresh and delish sushi. It was 3 minutes from our beach house on Isle of Palms. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere.

Amazing server named Casey. Atmosphere was great. Live music is the best! Water was crisp and cold too.

I love Bushido and highly recommend the sushi - Noodles are fantastic, too! The atmosphere is really nice and I highly recommend going for lunch or dinner. The joint definitely fills a void in the local island cuisine. Whenever I get a hankering for fresh and tasty sushi Bushido always delivers.

The atmosphere was nice but food was mediocre. Server seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed. Beautiful blonde sat us at our table and set the tone for what we thought would be an awesome meal. Drinks took too long to be refilled. The ginger dressing was very runny. The soup but bland. Edamame was salted and cooked just right. Pad Thai was way too spicy for lady in our party. Hibachi strip was very, very tough and overcooked.
